gre eng URI http://hdl.handle.net/10795/3521 philosophy philosophy of science history Σκοπός του συνεδρίου είναι να ανοίξει τον δρόμο για μια συνθετική θεώρηση που να παρουσιάζει όλες τις υπάρχουσες μαρτυρίες σχετικά με τον ακριβή χαρακτήρα, την οργανωτική δομή και την ιστορική σημασία της σχολής, αλλά και με τις φιλοσοφικές εξελίξεις που συντελέστηκαν στους κόλπους της, έτσι ώστε να προκύψει η δυνατότητα για μια επαρκή αποτίμηση της επίδρασης την οποία είχε η Ακαδημία τόσο στον άμεσο όσο και στον ευρύτερο κοινωνικό και πνευματικό της περίγυρο.Το συνέδριο επιχειρεί να διαμορφώσει μια πρώτη εικόνα όσον αφορά το πώς μπορεί να προσεγγιστεί αυτό το πολύπλευρο ζήτημα στο σύνολό του. Για τη διερεύνηση του θέματος έχουν επιλεγεί τέσσερις βασικοί θεματικοί άξονες: 1. Η ιστορία της φιλοσοφίας: Οι φιλοσοφικές εξελίξεις στο πλαίσιο της Ακαδημίας από την εποχή του Πλάτωνος ώς αυτήν του Κικέρωνα. 2. Η ιστορία της επιστήμης: Η συμβολή της Ακαδημίας στην ανάπτυξη των διαφόρων επιστημών, όπως λ.χ. των μαθηματικών, της αστρονομίας, των φυσικών επιστημών κλπ. 3. Η ιστορική έρευνα: Η συνεισφορά της Ακαδημίας στην κοινωνική ζωή της πόλης των Αθηνών και ο ρόλος της στα ευρύτερα ιστορικά δρώμενα της εποχής. 4. Η αρχαιολογία: Οι νεότερες αρχαιολογικές απόψεις σχετικά με την ιστορία της περιοχής της Ακαδημίας, με αναφορά στις πρόσφατες επιγραφικές, νομισματικές και ανασκαφικές έρευνες. The conference is conceived as an attempt to form a preliminary picture of how to approach this multifaceted issue by introducing an interdisciplinary approach. Four main approaches have been selected as appropriate launching points for such a survey of the evidence: 1. History of Philosophy, examining the philosophical developments within the Academy from the time of Plato to that of Cicero. 2. History of Science, dealing with the contribution of the Academy in the development of special sciences, such as Mathematics, Astronomy and the Natural Sciences. 3. History, investigating the status and impact of the Academy within contemporary Athenian society and its involvement in Greek political life. 4. Archaeology, presenting the current archaeological views about the history of the area of the Academy, in view of recent epigraphic, numismatic and sculptural evidence. The contributions are expected to enable specialists, coming from different fields, to enlarge their perspective and encourage further interaction between the various disciplines, aiming towards a more comprehensive understanding of the importance of the Academy as an educational and social institution.
